Chris Whitley

Chris Whitley (born August 31, 1960 in Houston, TX) was a blues singer/songwriter and guitarist. Perhaps under-appreciated in his time, Whitley had a long career, and recorded 12 studio albums.

During his career he worked with Dave Matthews, Bruce Hornsby, Shawn Colvin, Cassandra Wilson, and countless other famous musical acts. Whitley's style was one of both acoustic and electric blues, though he incorporated other aspects like pop, country and rock.

Whitley passed away on November 20, 2005 from lung cancer.
