The Vibe: Ray's "Happy Birthday" Bar's popularity has continued to increase and gain publicity. The bar has won awards from the City Paper and has even been used as a location in the movies such as Explicit IIIs and the Nail, (The story of Joey Nardone). Photos of legends ranging from Frank Palumbo to Babe Ruth adorn the walls. Live music performed by local bands every Saturday night. Every Friday night Karaoke with D.J. Lars.
The Scene: The bar maintains that same sense of welcome Ray Capozzoli fostered when he greeted customers by wishing them "Happy Birthday" each time they walked through the door. After Ray's passing in 1997, his son Lou took over running the place. In honor of his father, Ray's Bar was renamed, Ray's "Happy Birthday" Bar. Since that time, Ray's Bar continues to grow, drawing in locals and tourists alike. --Because the bar sits on the same block as Pat's and Geno's famous steak shops, tourists from all over the world drop by Ray's Happy Birthday Bar for a drink and enjoy live music or listen to the internet jukebox that features over 275,000 song selections from Frank Sinatra to U-2.
