Born Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, the young Kid was inspired by The Pharcyde and a Tribe Called Quest and began to craft his rhymes in their underground style. After high school, he moved to Brooklyn and embraced its vibrant hip-hop culture. By 2008, he released his first mix-tape, A Kid Named Cudi, which caught the ear of Kanye who recruited him for studio work. Kid Cudi received songwriting credits for the tracks "Heartless" and "Paranoid" off West's Welcome to the Heartbreak album. All of Cudi's behind the scenes songwriting and production work garnered him huge buzz within the industry. He was spotted by Rolling Stone magazine and the BBC's Sound of 2009 Poll as the year's artist to watch.
His debut single "Day'n'Night" was the breakout single of 2009. He debuted the song on BET's music video show 106 & Park with Kanye West. The single was a smash and spurred huge sales for his debut album Man on the Moon: The End of the Day which debuted at #4 in its opening week. Kid Cudi tour dates were booked alongside fellow rapper, Asher Roth, for the Great Hangover Concert Tour in Summer, 2009. Kid Cudi's rise was cemented when he was asked by Jay-Z to guest rap on his iconic The Blueprint 3 album. Accolades soon arrived and by the end of the year, Kid Cudi was nominated for three 2010 Grammy Awards for "Day'n'Nite" and "Make Her Say".
Following the highly successful summer tour, Kid Cudi returned to the studio and worked with such heavy-hitters as the Neptune's, Snoop Dogg, and Travis Barker for his sophomore album. He released the lead-off single "Erase Me" which featured Kanye West in 2010. The album Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rage debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 at the end of 2010. Kid Cudi avoided the sophomore curse with this critically acclaimed album and already has his sights set on the future. In 2011, Kid Cudi announced that he was forming a record label entitled "Wicked Awesome Records" and that he plans on releasing a mix-tape and a rock album this year.
In addition to becoming a record boss and a rocker, Kid Cudi tour dates are scheduled across the nation. The rapper will embark on a mid-sized venue concert series throughout the summer. Kanye's protege has grown out from his shadow to become one of hip-hop's coolest acts. Don't miss out when Kid Cudi concert dates come to a venue near you.
